Steps

crisp the cubed ham in stainless steel and deglaze with a splash of the milk

slice the potatoes thinly and arrange them in the baking dish

whisk the packet sauce mix into the milk, bring it to a boil while whisking, then remove from heat

pour the hot sauce over the potatoes and layer part of the cheese between the potato layers

cover with foil and bake at 200 °C for 30 minutes

remove the foil and bake another 20 minutes until browned and bubbling

rest uncovered for 15 minutes before cutting
